On March 21st, the Safely team partnered on the Glitter & Grit 5K and 10K in Irving, Texas, an event that brought together women of all experience levels to celebrate strength, movement, and community.
From first time runners to experienced racers, the morning was filled with energy, encouragement, and a shared sense of purpose. With music, community support, and a post race celebration, it was a reminder of how powerful it is when women show up for themselves and each other.
Celebrating Women Through Movement
Participants had the option to run or walk a 5K or 10K, creating a space where everyone could take part in a way that felt right for them.
What made this event stand out was the atmosphere. It was not just about crossing the finish line. It was about showing up, pushing yourself, and being surrounded by a community that celebrates you at every stage of your journey.
That kind of environment is what keeps women coming back to the sport.
Shoutout to Our Safely Ambassadors
This event was made even more special by the incredible women representing Safely on the ground.
Summer, one of our Safely ambassadors, hosted the run club and brought the community together in such an intentional way.

Susie, also a Safely ambassador, spent the morning connecting with runners, teaching participants how to use pepper spray, and sharing safety tips throughout the event. She also ran the 5K and won 1st place, which made the day even more exciting!
Seeing our ambassadors lead, educate, and show up in their communities is what this mission is all about. If you are interested in becoming part of the Safely ambassador program, you can learn more here.
Making Safety Part of the Conversation
Throughout the morning, the Safely team connected with participants at our booth to share practical safety guidance and answer questions. We walked through how to carry safety tools comfortably during a run, how to think about personal safety in different environments, and how small habits can help you feel more prepared.
Runners also had the chance to see the Safely Sidekick, our all in one personal safety device designed specifically with runners in mind. Having something easy to carry and simple to use can make a big difference in how confident you feel heading out the door!
In addition, participants were able to practice with Safely Practice Spray, a 100% water formula designed to help you safely build confidence and learn proper technique. With Pinky, our life sized pink skeleton, runners could step up and practice their aim in a way that felt approachable and hands on.
Practicing ahead of time helps remove hesitation so that if you ever need it, you know exactly what to do.
Simple Safety Habits for Runners
For women looking to feel more confident during their runs, a few small habits can go a long way.
- Pay attention to your environment and stay present, especially in unfamiliar areas.
- Plan routes that feel comfortable and align with your schedule.
- Share your plans with someone you trust before heading out.
- Run with others when you can, or use tools that allow someone to follow along with your location.
Most importantly, give yourself options so you can move through your runs with more confidence.
A Community That Lifts Each Other Up
Events like Glitter & Grit are a reflection of what the running community can be at its best. Supportive, inclusive, and full of women who want to see each other succeed.
From cheering at the finish line to conversations at the Safely booth, there was a clear sense of connection throughout the morning. And that is something bigger than any single race.
Looking Ahead
We will continue partnering with races, run clubs, and communities across the country to support women through both movement and education.
If you are interested in bringing Safely to your next event or joining our ambassador community, we would love to connect.
A Safer Tomorrow Starts Today
Every woman who shows up, runs her race, and supports those around her is helping move this mission forward. Together we are creating a safer tomorrow!
