There is something special about bringing women together to learn, grow, and support one another. That was exactly the atmosphere throughout Unfiltered: The Female Athlete, a two-day seminar hosted by Cunningham Running and Women Run Monterey in partnership with Fleet Feet Monterey.
From inspiring conversations to expert coaching and plenty of laughs along the way, the weekend was filled with opportunities for women to become stronger runners and more confident athletes.
Safely was honored to be part of the experience, teaching attendees how to confidently carry and use pepper spray through hands-on demonstrations with our 100% water Practice Spray.
More Than a Running Clinic
Unfiltered wasn't just about logging miles. It was about having honest conversations around the female athlete experience while learning from some of the best in the sport.
Throughout the weekend, attendees heard from Jeff and Angelique Cunningham, connected with fellow runners from across the Monterey community, and learned from special guest Gillian Plummer. Events like these remind us that education extends far beyond training plans. Confidence, community, and preparation all play an important role in helping women reach their goals.
Why Cunningham Running Wanted to Include Safety
One of the reasons this partnership felt so natural is because the team at Cunningham Running regularly hears the same concern from women who visit their store:
They don't always feel safe while running.
Whether it's early morning miles, solo runs after work, or training on unfamiliar routes, personal safety is a conversation happening in running communities across the country.
Throughout the weekend, attendees were able to try our water-filled Practice Spray, learn about our everyday carry Pepper Spray, and see firsthand how the Sidekick combines multiple safety tools into one device designed with runners and walkers in mind.
Thank You for an Incredible Weekend
We're incredibly grateful to Women Run Monterey, Cunningham Running, and Fleet Feet Monterey for welcoming us into such an inspiring event.
A special thank you as well to everyone who made the weekend possible, including Gillian Plummer and Lindsey, whose passion helped create an unforgettable experience for every attendee.
From education and empowerment to community and connection, Unfiltered was a perfect reminder that supporting female athletes goes far beyond race day.
We loved meeting so many incredible women, introducing them to Pinky, our 5-foot pink skeleton, and sharing practical safety education that we hope gives every runner a little more confidence on their next run.
